Attendance at Birchgrove Primary school
We believe that attendance is of paramount importance in our school and seek to ensure that as many children as possible attend school both punctually and regularly.
Mr. Meic Pickavance is our Education Welfare Officer who maintains close links with us on a weekly basis. We set an annual target each year to improve attendance and this year the target is 93% attendance for the school.
Holidays in term time
We have a system of holiday request forms for parents wanting to take children on holiday during the school term. Requests of up to 10 school days per year are met when children have an overall attendance rate of over 80%. Requests are not met when children have a low rate of attendance or when a period of more that 10 school days is requested.
Lateness
All children who arrive at school later that 8.50 are told to report to the office.
Absence
Please remember to let us know if your child is not able to come to school on the morning of their first absence.
We run a weekly competition between classes for a ‘Best attenders of the week’ shield. Children receive a certificate if their class achieve 100% attendance in any one week.
