2008-9 Literacy Project - Film 2009
This year we will be developing the use of films to stimulate writing. We will be launching our project with a 'Film Fortnight' in January.
THE LIBRARY OPENS!
On Monday November 12th, we had the grand opening of our school library. It was a chance to say a big thank you to everyone who has been involved in making this project happen. We had some fantastic stories from our special guest Mr Clive Biscoe. The children really enjoyed their first sessions in the library and the race has started to read a million words by Friday November 23rd! Ready, steady, go .........

We have been very busy this term working to develop our school library. On Friday 6th July, members of the Learning Group went on a visit with Miss Knight. They visited three school libraries to see how they are run and organised. Clive Biscoe, Head of the Education Library and Resource Service, kindly came with
us on the visit. After a morning of visiting the libraries, we went to Borders in Swansea to start to buy books for our library.
A huge thank you to everyone who has donated books for our library. The children have enjoyed writing their names on our special donation bookplates.
This week, Year 6 pupils are starting to paint the designs on our library so that the room will be ready for September.
60 minute make over!!
Wow! What a difference a day makes! A big thank you today to Amy, Jordan, Nia, Megan,Wayne and Kristina from Year 6 and Mrs Cullen and Mrs Woodward-Davies, who have been busy painting the library.
The Year 6 children had designed the murals for the walls of the library and today they finally got the chance to paint them. The children were so enthusiastic that they even stayed in playtimes and only stopped for their lunch! We had an audience at playtimes and all the children were amazed at the designs and said that they are going to 'live' in the library in September!
