Birchgrove Primary School Council
New School Councillors Elected.
Today we are proud to announce the election of new school councillors in Y2 - Y6. The elections were overseen by representatives from Swansea City Council who brought along voting cards, voting boxes and booths for the children to use - so it was a real voting experience for them.

The School Councillors will have powers to make decision and implement initiatives within the school and this will be carried out with the support of Mrs R John. The 1st item on the agenda will be for the councillors to elect a chairperson, treasurer and a secretary.
Here is a list of the newly elected School Councillors
Y2's - Jack M, Dyane-Leigh, Rhys H, Joshua A, Jessica C, Stephanie, Chloe P, Ben D, Ashley M
Y3's - Taylor W, Rhiannon W, Keira, Bronwen
Y4's - Luke R, Kally, Caitlin, Zac
Y5's - Jordan, Scott, Ryan W, Hywel
Y6's - Nicola, Allie, James, Tayah

Tayah is the secretary James is the chairperson Allie is the treasurer
When the older children were asked why they wanted to be a school councillor they replied -
"We wanted to be school councillors because we wanted the school to be a better place to learn and to make it a more exciting place and a safer place too" Nicola and Allie.
"We wanted to be school councillors because we wanted to try it, and we are big talkers and we want to make the school a better place" Zac and Caitlin.
"I wanted to be on the school council because I want to make a difference to the school, to help make it better and more fun.I am the chairperson which means I look after the meetings and help make decisions" James.
"We wanted to be in the school council because we would like to make a few changes in the school. Help to make the school a better place and to make the school more exciting" Chloe and Jordan.
